Selling gift cards

A page in your name to sell gift cards, paid to your Stripe account, redeemed at the bill.

Your guests give a meal at your place as a gift from a page in your name. The money arrives in your Stripe account, with no Klarr commission.

Stripe must be connected.

Setting it up

In Gift cards, Settings part:

  • tick "Sell gift cards online";
  • enter the amounts offered, separated by commas (for example "50, 80, 100") — the buyer can also choose a free amount between €20 and €500;
  • choose the validity period, from the day of purchase;
  • add a note on the page if you like ("Valid lunch and dinner, drinks included").

Copy the page's address and paste it into your Instagram bio, on your website and your Google listing. November and December are when gift cards sell.

On the buyer's side

The buyer chooses an amount, enters the recipient's name and a short message, and pays. They receive the gift card by email; they can also send it directly to the recipient. The gift card has a code, and can be used in one or several goes.

Redeeming a gift card

When paying the bill, the guest shows their code. In Redeem a gift card, type the code, then the amount to deduct. Klarr tells you what is left on the card, or that it is fully used.

The code has no 0, O, 1, I or L: no possible confusion when copying it.

Giving a gift card

A goodwill gesture, a competition: "Give a gift card" creates a gift card without payment. You can send it by email or print it.

Expired, cancelled, refunded

  • An expired gift card can be extended by 3 months.
  • To refund, go through your Stripe dashboard, then cancel the gift card in Klarr so it is no longer accepted.
  • As for VAT, in France a gift card usable on your whole menu is generally declared when it is used, not when bought: your accountant will confirm.
